A day in Downtown Suwanee

I spent a little time at Downtown Suwanee a couple of times in the past few weeks and I thought I'd share a few images.

At the moment there are 15 works of art on show and I took the opportunity to take some shots of a few of them, there are still more I have to "discover".

Here is the original info from the City of Suwanee's website:
"Suwanee SculpTour is a walkable exhibit of original, outdoor sculptures on display through March 2012 in downtown Suwanee. The 2011 tour features 15 pieces on loan from various artists from around the country and close to home.  Each artist was paid a small stipend, and each of the sculptures is available for purchase."

For more info on the exhibition as well as the artists go to -

And since the fountain is right there and my son Alex loves racing around in it, I thought I'd add a few of him for good measure! And of course last but not least one picture of my best friend in the whole wide world!

PS: Don't you think the picture of the water at sunset looks like a dancer with his hands up over his head? I thought it was an incredible capture!

Family Fun!

A couple of weeks ago I was asked to take pictures for family B.

It was a very warm afternoon, which was hard on everybody and especially the kids. Quite frankly, I was glad I was on the other side of the camera. But I was still able to capture some wonderfully natural family shots. Most times the pictures that just "happen" are the best - they tell a beautiful story.

I hope these pictures will conjure up some smiles and bring lasting enjoyment to the family.

re·veal

1.
a. To make known (something concealed or secret): revealed a confidence.
b. To bring to view; show.
Ding-dong, the door bell rang today and it was UPS. I always say that I love the chocolate brown truck, but today the delivery was super sweet!
This, my dear friends (and clients), is my new "toy". It is the awesomeness that is called Canon EOS 60D paired with a Tamron SP AF28-75mm F/2.8 (and the name goes on) lens, which is going to give me the most beautiful images. With a fixed 2.8 aperture, bokeh (that beautiful fuzziness we all love) is no longer a dream but a reality on all shots! Which means I can "blur-out" a multitude of sins in the background.

Thank you too all my friends who have supported me in this dream. We don't have that many friends here in the USA (since we've only been here for 2 1/2 years) but most of them have let me take pictures and I know will support me in the future. Many of you have spoken wonderful words of encouragement, telling me I have a gift, a good eye and the stuff to make it and that has helped me tremendously. I promise to keep doing what I'm doing, and now, with this beautiful black baby pictured above we will get even better results!

And now I'm off to get to know my new baby! I won't be shooting with her for a little while, we first need to get to know each other a bit better, I think....

an·tic·i·pa·tion

–noun
1. the act of anticipating or the state of being anticipated.
2. realization in advance; foretaste.
3. expectation or hope.
4. previous notion; slight previous impression.
5. intuition, foreknowledge, or prescience.

There is much anticipation here at Katja Wright Photography today, as I await the arrival of some new equipment hopefully tomorrow. I have the most wonderful and supportive silent partner a girl could ever wish for!

All I will say is that it's mostly black, it's partly round, it's somewhat shiny and it's got many fun buttons and it's going to take some seriously awesome images!

To quote a certain movie - "So come up to the lab and see what's on the slab. I see you shiver with antici... pation."
