Caitlin's Prom Pictures | Senior Photography, Suwanee GA

May 4, 2013 was the B-I-G day - Prom Day for my sweet friend Caitlin! She asked me to take pictures of her and a few of her friends before they went off to party the night away.

We had planned to take the pictures outdoors, with a beautiful spring backdrop. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate with us.....at......all. It poured the entire day!

I felt so bad for all these beautiful ladies (and man), who had such stunning dresses and their hair and make-up done; they were just unbelievably gorgeous!

We managed to take some shots on a small covered balcony (while the rain was still coming down) and then took the rest indoors at a friend's home.

I'm so glad I got a few nice pictures of Caitlin with her Daddy and her siblings!

I hope you all had a fantastic night and congratulations on your graduation this week - the world is your oyster! May the future be bright and filled with all things good!

Your Day Has Arrived

Graduation day is finally here,
And so now ends your high school career.
Always remember the friends you hold dear,
And look toward your future without any fear.

This is the day you've been preparing for
Since the day you walked through that first classroom door.
Now it is time to say good-bye,
And spread your wings - you're ready to fly.

So shed a tear and share a smile,
And be sure to remember all the while,
That although it may now be time to move on,
Today's memories will last your whole life long.

All the best to the class of 2013!

Wallace Family Pictures | Family Photography, Suwanee GA

A few weeks ago I met up with my friends, the Wallace Family at Sims Lake Park to take family pictures.

Mason & Chase are two adorable fire crackers, who kept me on my toes - they are just too funny for words and although they were probably done 10 minutes into our session, we managed to capture some wonderful memories for this family.

Thanks Wallace Family - I hope you had fun and that you'll enjoy these images for years to come!

Love is in the air | Couples Photography, Buford GA

A little while ago I enjoyed playing with these two love birds - aren't they just adorable?

Caitlin was my Senior rep, so you might recognize her from last year. This time she brought her boyfriend and we met down in Buford and had a blast.

We drew on walls, blew fluffy dandelions, played with a chalk board and rolled around on the grass - it was glorious! And I think the results speak for themselves.

Happy Easter | Suwanee, GA Lifestyle Photography

Tomorrow is Easter Sunday, so we dyed some eggs yesterday.

Alex had fun with the jars of egg dye and I had some fun taking pictures, of course.

I hope everybody still covered in snow will be able to find their eggs this year!

Secret Information

Would you like to know a secret?
Well, I'll tell you one I know:
The Easter's Bunny's coming,
My mama told me so.

He'll bring a basket filled with eggs
And leave it in my yard,
And I will find it Easter morn,
If I look very hard.

I shouldn't tell my secret,
But I think it should be shared.
You ought to know that Bunny's coming,
So you can be prepared!

Wishing you all a blessed Easter with your families!

"World in Motion" - A Winning Image | Art Prints

Last Tuesday night, during a weekly podcast I watch, I received some fabulous news.

An image that I entered in a contest of a photography group I'm a member of, won!

Every month we have a contest on a specific topic or theme. In January there were two: "World in Motion" & "Minimalism". For the longest time I was mulling over how I could take an interesting image for either of these. Then on the morning of the last day of the contest, a light bulb went on. We have a vintage globe that I could spin and take a shot of - a very literal interpretation of "World in Motion". I didn't know if I could make it work, but it turned out so much better than I had ever imagined.

From the moment I posted this picture, my peers were waxing lyrical about it - I was super thrilled about all the encouraging feedback!

Even if I had not won the contest, the kind praise from my fellow photographers would have been reward enough.

Now after the contest my image adorns the Facebook cover photo of our group until the next contest is won.

"Wold in Motion" (amongst others) is for sale in my new Art Prints Shop as quality photo prints, canvases and metal prints. If you are interested you can find more information here: http://www.katjawrightphotography.com/#!shop/cjxf

A pop of color in winter

I just felt like sharing a pop of happy red on a grey and dull day!
Have a happy day!

Things that fly | Musuem of Aviation Warner Robins, GA

Yesterday we took a day trip down to Warner Robins to the Museum of Aviation.

Well, what and unexpected gem this place is. My husband is an aviation enthusiast and so this was right up his alley. We were very impressed with a huge array of aircraft and exhibits the museum had to offer. And the quality of the set up was fabulous.

If you want to know more about it, here is a link: Museum of Aviation Warner Robins
It is definately worth a visit! And what I found even more surprising is that they did not charge a cent!

I had fun because I had a new toy to try out, my Canon 85mm f/1.8 USM lens. So all the pictures you are about to see were taken with that. It is a fixed focal length lens, so that was a little bit of a challenge at times but it actually also brings out more creativity in a way. You have to figure out how to make the shot work, somehow.

All of the inside shots were taken with only the available light (in some cases there was not a lot of that, I can tell you), some at very high ISO settings and luckily I had the f/1.8 lens for its low-light capabilities.

Alex had so much fun running around and spotting things he could "ride" and try out "hands-on" - he might just become a pilot! We also enjoyed a "ride" in a flight simulator which was very interesting.

I loved the pictures of the sexy, curvy ladies on the old planes and thought the article about "Feminine Fliers Retain Looks in Cockpit" was classic - a picture for all my ladies out there! The shot of the blue-yellow biplane with the light between the wings, is a favorite of mine and the self-portrait was me having some fun - or actually a lot of fun (BTW ISO 2000 on that one!).

Enjoy the pictures!
