"World in Motion" - A Winning Image | Art Prints

Last Tuesday night, during a weekly podcast I watch, I received some fabulous news.

An image that I entered in a contest of a photography group I'm a member of, won!

Every month we have a contest on a specific topic or theme. In January there were two: "World in Motion" & "Minimalism". For the longest time I was mulling over how I could take an interesting image for either of these. Then on the morning of the last day of the contest, a light bulb went on. We have a vintage globe that I could spin and take a shot of - a very literal interpretation of "World in Motion". I didn't know if I could make it work, but it turned out so much better than I had ever imagined.

From the moment I posted this picture, my peers were waxing lyrical about it - I was super thrilled about all the encouraging feedback!

Even if I had not won the contest, the kind praise from my fellow photographers would have been reward enough.

Now after the contest my image adorns the Facebook cover photo of our group until the next contest is won.

"Wold in Motion" (amongst others) is for sale in my new Art Prints Shop as quality photo prints, canvases and metal prints. If you are interested you can find more information here: http://www.katjawrightphotography.com/#!shop/cjxf

A pop of color in winter

I just felt like sharing a pop of happy red on a grey and dull day!
Have a happy day!

Things that fly | Musuem of Aviation Warner Robins, GA

Yesterday we took a day trip down to Warner Robins to the Museum of Aviation.

Well, what and unexpected gem this place is. My husband is an aviation enthusiast and so this was right up his alley. We were very impressed with a huge array of aircraft and exhibits the museum had to offer. And the quality of the set up was fabulous.

If you want to know more about it, here is a link: Museum of Aviation Warner Robins
It is definately worth a visit! And what I found even more surprising is that they did not charge a cent!

I had fun because I had a new toy to try out, my Canon 85mm f/1.8 USM lens. So all the pictures you are about to see were taken with that. It is a fixed focal length lens, so that was a little bit of a challenge at times but it actually also brings out more creativity in a way. You have to figure out how to make the shot work, somehow.

All of the inside shots were taken with only the available light (in some cases there was not a lot of that, I can tell you), some at very high ISO settings and luckily I had the f/1.8 lens for its low-light capabilities.

Alex had so much fun running around and spotting things he could "ride" and try out "hands-on" - he might just become a pilot! We also enjoyed a "ride" in a flight simulator which was very interesting.

I loved the pictures of the sexy, curvy ladies on the old planes and thought the article about "Feminine Fliers Retain Looks in Cockpit" was classic - a picture for all my ladies out there! The shot of the blue-yellow biplane with the light between the wings, is a favorite of mine and the self-portrait was me having some fun - or actually a lot of fun (BTW ISO 2000 on that one!).

Enjoy the pictures!
