What a gorgeous family - we had such a fun time together.
Despite our recent crazy weather patterns here in the Pacific Northwest trying their very, very best to interfere with our planned session, we persevered and managed to get out there before the autumn leaves were gone.
It was a lovely Wednesday afternoon and everybody looked so great. I had such a wonderful time taking the individuals of the kids, they were so cooperative and sweet and even young Ben had a good chat with me about spiders and pumpkins and biiiiiig leaves - he's a such a sweetheart! Don't you just love the shot of him on the chair??!
Thank you, Wheeler Family, for a happy afternoon of moment-capturing!
4 boys!!! How often do you get to take pictures of a family with 4 awesome boys??! I got to do just that a few weekends ago.
We met right in our "backyard" so to speak at SE 8th Street Park aka Big Rock Park and it was just fantastic. People in Sammamish might wonder: there's a park there??! Yes there is indeed and it is so simple but so effective as you will see in the pictures. Added to the great location came gorgeous fall foliage and a dramatic sky, which I could not have scripted any better. And all of this together added up to some super wonderful images.
Anyway, this was a fun group of boys desperately wanting to get home to watch the Seahawks game, so this photographer had to make it snappy (no pun intended). But they did enjoy the shot on the road where we made a deal that I would watch out for them, if they watched out for me in case any cars came down the road - that shot is just so beautiful and totally worth the (minor) risk.
Thanks again for spending a little time with me early on a Sunday morning, Alyson, and letting me capture all your boys (husband included)! And thanks also for the great coffee date afterwards!
And now, as usual, here are the moments!
A few week ago I got together with the Leitch Family for a family picture session. The weather was trying its very best to make it as hard as possible to get the job done, but in the end we won!
These are my sweet Canadian neighbo(u)rs and now, after spending many, many fun summer days playing with our kids on the road, friends. Also newcomers to the Seattle area. The two kiddos interacted so nicely with me when I took individual pictures - I had a really lovely time. And let's not forget about one of my favorite furry friends, Basil - he was so chilled, as always, and just went along with everything!
We took these wonderful fall pictures at Tolt -MacDonald Park in Carnation, WA. There is a red barn, a really cool bridge, woods & beautiful, mossy trees, a stunning pebble beach and the list goes on - it's the type of venue that would make every photographer's heart beat just a little bit faster.
But now back to the Leitch Family, here are a few of the moments we captured!
Several weeks ago, we were about to go out, when I went upstairs and caught a glimpse of my boy pouring over his Lego.
Now this is something that happens in our house every single day. Absolutely every day! But one day that will change. In the blink of an eye he'll be grown up, the Lego will be packed away and just that glimpse, that memory in my mind will remain.
That's where lifestyle photography comes in. Capturing those everyday (perhaps sometimes even quite mundane) moments. I am so glad I took the time to stop, fish my camera out and snap these shots because this is such a true reflection of who he is right now, at this moment, at this time in his life.
Sometimes (actually quite often) it is not about the perfect happy portrait, but the sneak peek into who they truly are through what they do on a daily basis.
And now may I present Alex, the Lego legend!
